Cyclists - Should they be insured?

It is estimated that only 2% of the people who regularly cycle have insurance. 98% of regular cyclists might find themselves responsible for compensation if they cause or contribute to an accident.
There is a perception that it is cyclists who get injured. Many do. When they are injured in an accident caused by another party then they should seek compensation.
On occasions however, the cyclist will be the offending party and if they do not have insurance then they might find themselves paying large compensation claims.
